The I-LanD Research Centre is proud to announce the 6th edition of its Languaging Diversity annual conference (LD6). Following the five successful events hosted by the Universities of Naples (2013), Catania (2014), Macerata (2016), Cagliari (2017) and Antwerp (2018), Languaging Diversity 2019 will be hosted by the University of Zaragoza, Spain, at the Campus of Teruel. LD6 builds on the themes of the previous editions (i.e. diversity, alterity, power, social class and globalisation) to propose a research strand linked to persuasion, the pragmatic or communicative intention whereby identity is enacted, power communicated and societal patterns reproduced.

The First Call for Papers will be announced by February 2019.

L’Associazione i Ken Onlus, in occasione della 11ª edizione del Festival Cinematografico Omosessuale e Questioning OMOVIES, vuole realizzare un progetto destinato alla traduzione, verso l’italiano, di opere audiovisive a tematica omosessuale, transgender e/o questioning denominato “OMOVIES inTRANSlation”.

Termini e Modalità di Iscrizione
Il progetto, primo in Italia nel suo genere, arrivato alla quarta edizione, è un progetto di traduzione audiovisiva (verso l’italiano) aperto a tutti gli studenti degli atenei nazionali di traduzione specialistica. Gli studenti che aderiranno dovranno cimentarsi in una prova di traduzione audiovisiva (sottotitolaggio) di opere filmiche a tematica LGBT in lingua straniera mai sottotitolate prima in italiano. Le opere da tradurre saranno fornite dalla direzione del festival a tutti i partecipanti ai quali verrà rilasciato un attestato di partecipazione durante la serata conclusiva del Festival dal direttore artistico di OMOVIES FILM FESTIVAL 11° edizione. Inoltre, i nominativi dei partecipanti verranno inseriti nei titoli di coda come traduttori ufficiali dalla lingua originale verso l’italiano dell’opera tradotta.

We are pleased to announce that the new issue of the puntOorg International Journal (Vol. 3, no. 1/2) is now available online. The thematic issue "Self-Narratives in Organizations: Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Experiences" is edited by Giuseppe Balirano, Luigi Maria Sicca and Paolo Valerio. The first section presents original contributions on theoretical and methodological reflections by Davide Bizjak, Cristiano Scandurra, Vincenzo Bochicchio, Angela Zottola and Lexi Webster. The second section of this thematic issue of the puntOorg International Journal contains eight self-representational narratives provided by transgender and gender non-conforming people on their work and life experiences. The translation into English from the original Italian texts were provided by eight MA students in Language and Translation from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”.

The International Conference Language in the Media 8 will be hosted by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) from July 23 to 26, 2019. The conference aims to discuss the theme mediatising resistance.
While favoring the focus on power-resistance processes, LinM8 will keep the interest in other broad sociolinguistic topics and their relations to processes of mediatisation. Submissions whose focus lies in the following areas are welcome:

Multimodal digital communication is the main theme of this conference meant to attract multidisciplinary research on a wide range of issues from teaching and learning to analysing multimodal digital data appearing in multiple communication arenas. Drawing on the work related to the European project EU-MADE4LL, European Multimodal and Digital Education for Language Learning, the conference intends to bring together international scholars belonging to various fields of research sharing an interest in exploring recent developments in multimodal digital communication. We wish to tackle the complex arenas of digitality by reflecting on a broad range of multimodal texts, social practices and communities: content management systems, corporate web pages, institutional web pages, blogs, corporate videos, mash up, fanvids, etc ... EUMade4ll

EUMade4ll aims to design, implement and test a transnational joint syllabus that integrates multimodal digital literacy and English for international communication. It will also produce data to develop a Common Framework of Reference for Digital Literacy (CFRDiL). 6 higher education institutions are part of the initiative: Università di Messina (Italy); University of Leeds (UK); Università di Firenze (Italy); Aarhus Universitat (Denmark); Università di Roma-Tor Vergata (Italy); LUH-Hannover (Germany). The project aims at:
(1) the creation of an open access online environment for e-learning and for storing and sharing the learning materials and students’ anonymised assignments;
(2) the development and implementation of a joint syllabus that includes (a) a common set of core notions, reading materials and learning activities, (b) a series of workshops, each focused on a specific digital text type and carried out through teachers’ mobility among the participant organizations, (c) assignments that enable the assessment and peer-assessment of students’ learning outcomes, and (4) evaluation of the course effectiveness;
(3) the evaluation of the outcomes of the joint courses and refinement of the joint syllabus;
(4) students’ mobility within the dissemination of the project’s results;
(5) the development of a Common Framework of Reference for Digital Literacy (CFRDiL).
