Travel information: getting to Naples

 

The city of Naples is the capital of the Italian region Campania and is the third largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan. The city is well connected to the rest of Italy and Europe and is easily accessible by plane, by train, by bus, by car, by boat.

 

 

By Plane

 

Naples Capodichino Airport

Naples is served by Naples “Capodichino” International Airport. It is the largest airport in southern Italy, with hundreds of national, international (some intercontinental) flights arriving and departing daily.

Several regular and low-cost airlines operate flights from and to Naples Capodichino.

Capodichino Airport is about 8 km from Napoli Centrale-Piazza Garibaldi Main Railway Station, from which travellers can easily reach every destination in the city centre.

Alibus

Alibus runs a direct shuttle bus (without intermediate stops) from outside arrivals at Capodichino Airport to Napoli Centrale-Piazza Garibaldi Main Railway Station and the Maritime Port. Buses leave every 25 minutes from 6:00 AM to 23:00 PM. A one-way Alibus ticket is 5 euros and allows one journey on the shuttle Alibus, on the route Naples International Airport - Central Train Station - Port or vice versa, and the use of all means of transport of the Companies participating in the UNICOCAMPANIA consortium (local buses and tram lines, underground subway lines, cable cars lines) within Naples urban area. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes from the first validation. It is possible to buy Alibus tickets directly on board and also in the airport, at parking payment station in arrival area (ground floor of Multipiano parking).

Taxis

You can find taxis just at the airport exit: taxi lane is located in front of arrivals. A taxi to Napoli Centrale-Piazza Garibaldi Main Railway Station costs around 20 euros with the pre-fixed taxi rate. Please, be sure to ask the taxi driver for the pre-fixed taxi rate before your ride. This pre-fixed taxi rate include all extras (night fare, baggage, pets, airport overcharge, etc.) and is intended for each cab, independently from the number of passengers.

 

Hotel Shuttle Service

Many Hotels and B&Bs in Naples usually offer shuttle service on request from/to the airport, often on favourable terms, especially if you are travelling with a group.

 

 

Rome Fiumicino Airport

“Leonardo da Vinci” International Airport - Rome Fiumicino Airport is the major airport of Rome, the capital of Italy and the major airport in Italy. Located in Fiumicino (about 30 km from Rome’s city centre and 200 km from Naples’ city centre), it serves as the main hub for Alitalia, the largest Italian airlines, as well for the most important International regular and low-cost airlines flying from/to Italy.

Leonardo Express

From Fiumicino Airport, passengers can easily reach Roma Termini Main Railway Station (and from there getting to Naples) by train. Trenitalia, the primary train operator in Italy, offers quick and frequent connections between Fiumicino Airport and Roma Termini Station. Leonardo Express is a non-stop train service exclusively for airport passengers to/from Rome Termini railway station leaving every 15 minutes with a journey time of approximately 32 minutes. Railway station for Leonardo Express in “Leonardo da Vinci” International airport is located near the Arrivals and Departures terminals.

“G.B. Pastine” International Airport - Rome Ciampino Airport is the secondary international airport of Rome. Located in Ciampino (about 15 km from Rome’s city centre and 175 km from Naples’ city centre), it is connected to many international destinations thanks to several flights operated mainly by low-cost airlines.
