Material Culture, Identity, and the Construction of Amazigh Cultural Heritage (MCICAH)

The upcoming Conference and Summer School titled Material Culture, Identity, and the Construction of Amazigh Cultural Heritage (MCICAH) will take place on June 3th-6th in the beautiful setting of Procida.
This event will offer Master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral students a program focused on various aspects related to material culture, identity formation, and the construction of cultural heritage.
The core themes and objectives of this event reflect the intricate and multifaceted relationship between material culture, identity formation, and the preservation of cultural heritage within the Amazigh communities. For the Amazigh people, material culture is not just a collection of items; it is a testament to their history, traditions, and way of life. Through the study of material culture, we gain insights into the social and cultural practices that have shaped the Amazigh identity over time.
The aim of this event is to explore different methodological approaches used in the study of Amazigh material culture, such as ethnography, archaeology, art history, literature, linguistics, and cultural anthropology. Through paper presentations, discussions, and working groups, the Summer School provides with an environment to engage in international dialogue, exchange ideas, and expand the critical debate on research in the field of Amazigh material culture, in light of the development of new technologies and AI-based language models (such as ChatGPT and others).
The goal is to contribute to the global knowledge of Amazigh societies, especially in unexplored areas.
