Foreign students

For admission to our Bachelor’s and Second-level degrees, foreign students are required to primarily consult the "Guidelines for managing enrolment applications from students with foreign qualifications", the educational offer available on our website, and specifically the Admission Notices for individual programmes.

All non-EU students intending to study at our University are required to consult the Universitaly website exclusively for pre-enrolment procedures and visa applications.

All international students requiring a visa may therefore complete their pre-enrolment for the academic year 2025/2026 through the aforementioned portal no later than 30 November 2025.

N.B.: “Please be advised that pre-enrolment at the University does not, in any way, guarantee an appointment at the diplomatic-consular Representations for the submission of visa applications.”
“It is also noted that, as stated on page 7 of the ministerial circular entitled ‘Procedures for the entry, stay, enrolment of international students and the relative recognition of qualifications, for higher education courses in Italy valid for the 2025-2026 academic year’, the prior acceptance of a candidate by the University does not confer any right to obtain a visa, given that the issuance of study visas is the exclusive competence of the individual diplomatic-consular Representations.”

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the Italian language proficiency test (Italian L2 Test) will be held in at-home mode (test@casa) – at the students' residence on the following dates:

  • 22 April 2026
  • 25 June 2026
  • 25 September 2026

All students holding a non-Italian qualification (EU and non-EU) are required to take the test.

You may be exempted from this test if you hold a certification* of at least B2 level in Italian*. The expected level of Italian language proficiency is at least B1/B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

For information regarding the test, please consult the CISIA website and the following link for the technical procedures on how to set up your workstation.

Students can view a sample Italian language test on the Cisia website by registering in the Practice Area  and then clicking at the top left on “Materiali per esercitarsi” (Practice materials) ˃ test di italiano L2 ˃ Esempio di prova ITALIANO-L2 (ITALIAN-L2 sample test).

Please also note that, in addition to the Italian language proficiency test, students intending to enrol in a Bachelor’s Degree that includes the study of the English language must take the TOLC SU.

*Only Italian language proficiency certificates of a level no lower than B2 of the Council of Europe are valid, if issued by the Roma Tre University, the Universities for Foreigners of Perugia and Siena, the "Dante Alighieri" University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria (legally recognised non-state university), and the "Dante Alighieri" Society, including those in agreement with Italian Cultural Institutes abroad or other bodies. CLIQ (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) certificates are also valid.

The page regarding enrolment and payment procedures will be updated shortly.

In order to access Bachelor’s Degrees, you must hold:

  • a final secondary school qualification, obtained after at least 12 years of overall schooling, which grants access in the country where it was awarded to a degree programme similar to the one requested in Italy;

  • a certificate certifying the successful completion of all examinations required for the first year or the first two years of university studies, if in your country you obtained the high school diploma after 11 or 10 years of overall schooling, respectively. NB: in this case, the examinations taken in the first year or the first two years of university studies only allow for enrolment in the first academic year and cannot be further evaluated for credit recognition;
  • a residence permit (for non-EU citizens).
  • If you have obtained a high school diploma in the United States or Great Britain, your application for enrolment can only be accepted if your AP/A-levels are evaluated as consistent with the chosen Bachelor’s Degree.
  • If you have obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB), please remember that IB diplomas must be legalised by the Italian Consulate in Geneva. For further information, you may contact the IB Legalisation Service. IB diplomas obtained at certain schools are recognised by the Italian State.
