
The development and deployment of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) gave rise to “AI colonialism”, a term closely related to “data colonialism” as a form of injustice.
So the cycle of Interdisciplinary Workshops “AI and Diversity” is set to conclude with a lecture entitled “AI and the Quest for Universality: Is Decolonizing AI Possible?”, in which the speakers will explain what the phenomenon of “AI colonialism” is, and why and how we should strive for the decolonization of AI. .
Teresa Numerico (Roma Tre University) and Ranjodh Singh Dhaliwal (University of Basel and visiting professor at the Centre AI-CoDED between April and May) will be keynote speakers, then other speeches by several discussants are planned.
