On 15 January, a meeting was held at the Rector's Office between representatives of eight European universities to set up an Alliance for the realisation of a European project. In addition to the Rector of L'Orientale, Roberto Tottoli, and the Pro-Rector for Internationalisation, Augusto Guarino, there were Rectors and delegates from the University of Bayreuth (Germany, coordinating university), University Bordeaux Montaigne (France), University of Hradec Kralove (Czech Republic), University Pablo de Olavide (Spain), University of Szczecin (Poland), University of French Polynesia (French Polynesia), Batman Üniversitesi (Turkey).
The aim of the Alliance, to which other European universities are still in the process of joining, is not only to achieve greater integration between institutions of various areas and different traditions, but also to foster dialogue between Europe and non-European cultures, always with the priority of improving the educational paths, enriching the research environment, and ensuring the necessary integration between the academic world and the social context.
