Official Visit of the Rector to Addis Ababa University

On the 28th of November Rector Roberto Tottoli visited Addis Ababa University and met President Samuel Kifle. In the meeting, the ongoing collaborations in the fields of archaeology, philology, history, and linguistics as well as the future perspectives of the long-established partnership were discussed. Indeed, Addis Ababa University was the first foreign university to establish an agreement with the Orientale University. Delegations of teaching staff of the two institutions and the representatives of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Ethiopia took part to the meeting.

On the 29th of November, an agreement was signed by Rector Roberto Tottoli and Abebaw Ayalew, director general of the Ethiopian Heritage Authority. The agreement is aimed at organizing joint teaching laboratories at the National Museum of Ethiopia. Addi_Lab aims at providing the staff of the Ethiopian Heritage Authority and the students of the Orientale University and Addis Ababa University with skills in the fields of description, conservation, and digitization of archaeological and epigraphic materials as well as of manuscripts. Moreover, the Orientale University will be collaborating with the Ethiopian Heritage Authority I the implementation of a digital archive of the Ethiopian cultural heritage. Delegations of the partner institutions and the representatives of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Ethiopia took part to the meeting.
