
The PhD Programme is based on the teaching and research activities from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS). The educational and research structure stands on the following scientific areas of study: History, Law, Economics, Philosophy, Anthropology, Geo-Political Studies, Cultural Studies and Post-Colonial Studies.
The intention of the PhD programme is to address the study of the contemporary global reality by offering a broad, organic and interdisciplinary approach to the different issues on the international agenda which would also be able to comprehend the study of the historical dimension starting from the mundialization processes of the early Modern Age, history of ideas, history of geopolitical, economic and institutional orders involving new angles such as the perspective arising from gender history, cultural and post-colonial studies mainly focused on investigating the ethnic-cultural relations between the Western world and others.
The 2023-2024 Academic Year’s training is divided into three blocks (the seminars will take place between February and June 2024):
• 41 Guest lectures on methodology and teachings held by visiting scholars/professors and hosts from the collegium;
• 28 Multidisciplinary seminars on research topics addressed from different theoretical and methodological perspectives;
• 14 Soft skills seminars for the acquirement of transversal skills planned to be useful both in scientific research and for the labour market.
