The Course at a Glance

The Degree Programme in Ancient Civilisations and Archaeology: East and West is distinguished by its strong international orientation and aims to provide a broad and structured cultural and methodological foundation in the fields of archaeological and ancient historical studies. Its chronological framework spans Antiquity, Late Antiquity, and the Middle Ages, while its geographical focus encompasses Europe, Africa, and Asia—fully in line with the institution’s cultural tradition.

The two curricula offered by the programme, East and West, are developed from a continuous comparative perspective on the cultures, histories, and arts of Eastern and Western civilisations. This approach enables students to explore the full range of skills required in various chronological and geographical contexts, to recognise the complex network of relationships among civilisations, and to identify both commonalities and differences.

Participation in excavation campaigns, as well as in internships and lab activities, allows for the continuous practical application of the theoretical and methodological skills acquired.
