Programme Overview
The Double Degree Program between the University of Naples L’Orientale (UNIOR) and Kōbe University (KU) allows students to earn, over the course of two years, the Master’s Degree in Relations and Institutions of Asia and Africa (MRI) from the University of Naples L’Orientale and a Master of Arts (MA) from the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at Kōbe University (Japan).
The program combines the area-studies focus of the MRI degree with the strong theoretical and methodological training in the social sciences offered by the MA program. Thanks to the agreement between the two universities, selected UNIOR students can obtain a European–Japanese double degree with no additional costs beyond the tuition fees required by UNIOR.
How to Apply
When: April 2026 (exact dates will be specified in the annual call)
Procedure: Applications must be submitted exclusively online via ESSE3:

After logging in, select: International Mobility → Mobility Calls → Study Mobility Call Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at Kōbe University and complete the application by the deadline indicated in the call.

The application must include:
- The official transcript of the Bachelor's degree
- The research project
How to apply
When: the selection for the academic year 2025-6 is ongoing. The agreement is currently under review. The call for applications for the academic year 2026-7, which will provide for a different time frame of the course of study, will probably be available in November 2026.

Other information
Tuition fees: Selected students continue to pay fees exclusively at UNIOR.
Visa: Required. Selected students prepare the necessary documentation to obtain the visa within the deadlines indicated by the KU.
Insurance coverage: UNIOR guarantees insurance coverage for accidents and civil liability for the entire duration of the mobility.
