Graduate School of Intercultural Studies of Kōbe University (Giappone)

Programme Overview

The UNIOR-Kōbe University (KU) Double Diploma program allows students to obtain a master’s degree in relations and Institutions of Asia and Africa (MRI) from the University of Naples L'Orientale and a Master of Arts (MA) from the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies of Kōbe University (Japan) in two years.

The course integrates the area-studies training of the MRI course with the theoretical and methodological preparation in social sciences of the MA. Thanks to the agreement, selected UNIOR students can obtain a double European Japanese degree at no additional cost, in addition to the fees provided by UNIOR.

Admission requirements

  1. enrollment for the academic year 2025/2026, in the first year of the master's degree course in "Relations and Institutions of Asia and Africa (MRI), area language: Japanese. 
  2. degree in Political Science and International Relations, or degree class L-36 - class of degrees in Political Science and International Relations, or in the degree class L-11 class of degrees in Modern Languages and Cultures. 

    Candidates who have obtained their degree from another university are required to attach their self-certification/degree certificate with exams and grades to the application form.

  3. graduation mark of 102/110 or higher.
  4. knowledge of the Japanese language documented through the result of the Japanese language exams taken at the University to which they belong, (three years with an average of not less than 27/30).
  5. submit a research project.

How to apply

When: the selection for the academic year 2025-6 is ongoing. The agreement is currently under review. The call for applications for the academic year 2026-7, which will provide for a different time frame of the course of study, will probably be available in November 2026.

Required DocumentationThe application must include:

  1. The official transcript of the Bachelor's degree
  2. The research project

Other information

Tuition fees: Selected students continue to pay fees exclusively at UNIOR.

Visa: Required. Selected students prepare the necessary documentation to obtain the visa within the deadlines indicated by the KU. 

Insurance coverage: UNIOR guarantees insurance coverage for accidents and civil liability for the entire duration of the mobility.
