Program Overview

The Italian second-cycle degree program in Humanities and Digital Technologies (LMDH) belongs to Degree Class LM-43. It is an inter-university program established through an agreement between the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and the University of Naples Parthenope. It is also an interdepartmental program, involving the three departments of L’Orientale (Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean; Human and Social Sciences; Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies) and the Department of Science and Technology of the University of Naples Parthenope.

The program lasts two years. To obtain the degree, students must earn 120 ECTS credits.

This is a multidisciplinary program in which solid humanistic expertise is integrated with computational practices in an innovative approach, fully embedded in the context of digital transition. The course aims to promote a wide range of transversal skills in line with societal changes in which digital processes play an increasingly central role — not only in the economic and entrepreneurial spheres but also in those of culture and research.

Graduates will possess the knowledge required to encode, enhance, and manage digital content, including the medium- and long-term preservation of digital archives and documents.

Learning Objectives

The program prepares professionals with expertise in knowledge management, digital publishing and communication, and the design, production, archiving, and promotion of digital content on the web. These are professionals capable of holding high-responsibility roles in areas related to services, the creative and cultural industries, cultural institutions, and other specialized centers. These areas include activities such as digital publishing, management and valorization of cultural assets and resources, and intercultural communication involving interaction with users through social media and networks.

The program offers two curricula:

1. Technologies for the Cultural and Creative Industries

2. Digital Methods for Cultural Heritage

The first curriculum focuses on developing skills in the drafting and editing of technical, linguistic, and lexicographic texts. The second focuses on the representation and digitization of cultural archives.
