Program Overview
The program aims to prepare graduates capable of analyzing the complexity of global dynamics in their historical, political, economic, legal, and social dimensions.
In these contexts, and in the broader international relations system, alongside national governments, the main actors include international economic institutions, non-governmental organizations (with broader and more diverse functions than in the past), private entities (such as multinational corporations), and other non-state actors (including movements involved in international and/or national armed conflicts).
Understanding the relationships between these actors and the functioning of the international relations system lies at the heart of the International Relations degree program.
In line with the requirements of the Second-cycle Degree Class in International Relations, the program is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach that integrates courses from diverse fields — legal, economic, political science, historical, geographical, sociological, anthropological, and statistical — with constant attention to ongoing global processes and transformations in contemporary society.
The curriculum combines a set of core courses in the main disciplinary areas with a range of electives, offered within a university renowned for its long-standing and consolidated tradition of training for international careers.
The program offers three curricula, each designed to provide specialized expertise in a specific field:
- Global Scenarios and International Careers
- Law and Economics for International Relations
- Communication, Politics, and International Relations

Learning Objectives
The program aims to prepare graduates to work in the international dimension of both European and non-European regional contexts, with particular attention to political and international relations issues, as well as economic and social change.
Students will learn to identify and analyze the dynamics intrinsic to the international dimension of political, economic, and social phenomena, and to evaluate and address them in a professional setting.
Topics covered include: analysis of new paradigms for examining institutions and their transformations; the interplay between local and global dimensions; international law and issues related to supranational organizations; and aspects of development and cooperation, including sustainability.
This knowledge is intended to equip graduates with a strong cultural openness, capable of mastering both abstract thinking and empirical skills, and of applying these abilities to high-level professional roles.
Career Opportunities
Graduates will be prepared for careers in international organizations, public and private bodies with internationalization offices, non-profit organizations, diplomatic relations, and the communication sector.
The program also prepares professionals able to work in international contexts with expertise in peacekeeping, human rights protection, and democracy promotion, in intercultural mediation and in promoting integration and managing migration flows, as well as sustainable development.
Due to its interdisciplinary nature, the program is delivered both at the main administrative and teaching site in Largo S. Giovanni Maggiore, 30, and at other university premises within the city of Naples.
